How has Ramos allowed Tottenham to start the season with just one striker?

In amongst all the stuff about Berbatov, he has left him out and sold Keane and Defoe without bringing in a replacement. Even Gus Poyet was saying after they lost to Sunderland that they only had one attacker and they wanted two!

Surely it is the managers job to make sure they start the season with a balanced team and squad? I'm confused!

I know one or two Russians might be coming but the two defeats already might just cost Tottenham dear at the end of the season.

Andy Johnson is the eleventh new signing at Fulham. Surely bringing in so many new players is a dangerous game. They could field a completely new team.

The fans must be getting a bit confused about who plays for them!

It will be interesting to see if they can gel together quickly enough.

I quite like the look of Zamora and Johnson as a front pair. If they can play together they'll be a handful for any defence.

Were the team so bad last season that they needed to completely replace them?

Just when you thought that the powers that be couldn't get any more daft the news emerges that the FA have charged Joey Barton with violent conduct in relation to his assault on then team-mate Ousmane Dabo some fifteen months ago.

I can't stand Joey Barton and I have no feelings one way or the other about his career, but to charge someone this long after the event, especially when they have been sentenced by a court, seems to be absolute lunacy.

When will common sense play a part in FA decisions?

Before Scolari has even settled in at Chelsea, good old Sir Alex Ferguson has started having a dig at the club.

He said earlier this week that he didn't think Chelsea would be a threat this year because the team is old and they won't be getting any better.

He can't mean what he says and it is obviously an unsubtle attempt to wind Scolari up. Fergie has always loved these so called 'mind games'.

I've been bored to tears waiting for the season to start and this morning I've just read that Manchester City played last night in the Uefa Cup.

OK, it was only the first qualifying round first leg and it was only against some team of part-timers from the Faroe Islands, but it was a proper game! City won 2-0.

I'm so happy. The football season is back! The world looks a better place, the credit crunch no longer matters, my job doesn't look so disastrous and I might get away without killing my kids. Football really is a saviour!
