Hot off the press

Arsenals Walcott - new right wing solution?

In the build up to England's crunch qualifier with Croatia, we posed the question as to who should play on the right hand side of midfield in Zagreb. David Beckham, Theo Walcott and David Bentley were the names in contention, but manager Fabio Capello ultimately put his faith in the young Arsenal prodigy. It worked, as the 19-year-old bagged a sublime hat-trick. The press marvelled at the unleashing on Walcott's undoubted talent, but his club mentor remains unsure:

"Theo Walcott has been warned he may not be in Arsenal's starting XI this weekend despite his England hat-trick heroics. Walcott hit the headlines with his stunning display in Wednesday night's international as the Three Lions thrashed Croatia 4-1 in Zagreb. But Arsene Wenger has refused to guarantee the talented teenager a spot in his team for the Premier League trip to Blackburn on Saturday. Wenger said: "Will Walcott play? I don't know. I will have to rotate the squad now. "You can't expect the players who have played for their national teams to play three times in a week. We have a very compact squad and people are interchangeable." (Skysports.com)

Wenger has had plenty to say today about various footballing issues, but where do you stand on this topic? Should Walcott be unleashing at Capello's will, or does he protecting, and easing into international football more gradually? Do you see him as our new right-winger in a four-man midfield, or do you still harbour doubts over this sudden rise when he has hardly played club football? Do you think Wenger trusts his youngster? After all, he is rarely seen in a Gunners shirt. Is this the end for Beckham, and has Bentley missed the boat? Tell us what you think, and who should have the number seven shirt as their own.
