Liverpool’s injury list grew on the weekend, but for one player this was good news.

Agger has yet to play a league game this year, after falling behind Skrtel and Jamie Carragher in the pecking order, and speculation he could buy out the remaining 18 months of his contract refuses to subside.

But the Denmark defender, who missed most of last season with a broken foot, could reestablish himself in the team and open fresh contract talks at the same time.
He said yesterday: "Of course I hope to get some playing time, but this isn't exactly the way I wished to get it. I know Martin very well as I share a room with him when we travel.
"I hope to get my chance and then I will prove it's my place. (The Mirror)

It has given Daniel Agger the chance to regain his place in the starting eleven after Agger suffered his own very bad injury last season. He is much more of a ball playing centre half compared to Skrtel’s take-no-prisoners style – and so could he actually be a better foil for Jamie Carragher at the heart of the Liverpool defence?
