Hot off the press

Fabregas hints he could leave Arsenal if Chelsea and Manchester United sweep up the major honours again. Barcelona calling?

Arsenal's brightest star, Cesc Fabregas, has hinted that he may leave the Emirates at the end of this season if the Gunners finish the season potless again. Arsenal have not won any silverware since their FA Cup win in 2005, and haven't won the title since their unbeaten season in 2003/04. Whilst for the vast majority of clubs this would be more than acceptable, for Arsenal and particularly a player like Fabregas, it's just not enough. As a kid, Fabregas idolised Barcelona midfielder Pep Guardiola and has often said how he has tried to model his own game on that of his hero. The fact that Guardiola is the current Barcelona boss, could well sway Cesc's decision as to where his future lies.

The Spaniard has repeatedly stated he is happy in north London, but has often suggested he may wish to return to his homeland at some point.

And the Daily Telegraph quotes the midfielder as saying he would like to go back to Barcelona, the club at which he started his career, and from whom he was signed by Arsene Wenger as a 15-year-old.

"I would like to try to win more titles here, although next season we'll see" Fabregas said.

"It would be a dream to return to Barcelona one day."

However, Fabregas went on to praise the structure of his present club, and said he wasn't ready to leave Arsenal just yet.

"It is wonderful to see so many players from the youth system in the team, so well adapted to the philosophy of the club.

"I decided to give my all for Arsenal and I'm not the kind of person to just give up on things just like that." (SPORTING LIFE)

Will Fabregas be at Arsenal next season? Have Arsenal got enough this season to win a major piece of silverware? At 21 years old, Fabregas is one of the Gunner's more experienced and relied upon players. Whilst the enthusiasm, pace and fitness of youth is clearly their strength, is the inexperience, huge reliance and pressure on youngsters and lack of leadership the weakness that negates all that is good at Arsenal?
