Hot off the press

Arsenal's Fabregas to Barcelona? If they think they can afford him….

The latest word on the footballing gossip street is that Fabregas might be tempted with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season. Quite frankly, as a football fan it becomes very tiresome to hear the same rumours every season, but obviously this is a club of immense proportions, and Arsenal can not anywhere near compete with the quality of both their players, their legacy, and their idea of the immediate future. And they are always interested in Fabregas. There is only so far you can go as a player, despite your loyalties until you just have to turn around and say: Well, I tried my best, but we aren't winning anything, and I have been your best player since I was 18… we just aren't going anywhere. Fabregas, quite frankly might be exactly the kick up the arse that Arsenal need. Apart from the obvious point that he should be captain (yes, I know that most of you think he has enough pressure on him already), he is also surely getting tired of competing for a team whose ambitions are severely restricted by their incredibly astute but equally obstinate manager.

"I chose to stay at the club last summer and right now I'm totally focused on the reason for that decision, which was to try and win trophies.

"We'll see how things have gone by the end of the season.

"But the fact is that Barca are playing 'cinematic' football and it's fantastic to see."

Arsenal boss Wenger has been criticised for not adding experienced players to his youthful squad over the summer.

But Fabregas, 21, admits he is delighted with the progress the young players are making and revealed he plans on leading them to silverware.

He added: "It is wonderful to see so many players from the youth system in the team, so well adapted to the philosophy of the club.

"I decided to give my all for Arsenal and I'm not the kind of person to just give up on things just like that."

Well quite honestly, I think we are all aware that if Arsenal win nothing again, it is completely Wenger's irritating stubborn approach that will have brought the club such a gape in their illustrious recent history and will eventually bring Fabregas to accept that his time has run out with a club probably going nowhere for now….

So what do fans think? Capitalise on the fabulous Fabregas and get all we can for him, or just hope Wenger buys a centre back and DM so Fabregas has cause to stay as we look like we may win at least one competition?
