Manchester United have recently received glowing praise from the media, in account of their supposed fine form and goal scoring knack. Granted, Rooney and Berbatov have notched an impressive tally since playing together, but do United deserve the praise?

If one looks at their past results, there is an impressive goal scoring trend. Four nil, three nil, a few two nil’s, and not one goal conceded in their last five games. However, you must also look at the calibre of opposition they have been facing. In the champions league they have faced the little known Aalborg BK, and Celtic, who have not won an away game in 15 games. In the premier league, they have faced West Brom, Blackburn, Bolton and Middlesbrough, and all of these teams are in the lower half of the table.
