Hot off the press

Arsenal boss and midfield star take swipes at Tottenham ahead of the North London derby........kidology or honest opinions?

Arsene Wenger took a backhanded swipe at the Tottenham fans, players and hierarchy, by suggesting they let Juande Ramos down. Although offering Ramos an excuse as to why he was unsuccessful, he inferrred that Spurs were yet again too hasty to judge their manager unfavourably and far too quickly. Things are so poor at White Hart Lane at the moment that Cesc Fabregas thinks Arsenal ladies could get a point off Tottenham at the moment. Who would argue against him!?

Gunners boss Wenger said "What sometimes happens in this league is when a team doesn't go for Europe and wins the Carling Cup, they suddenly switch off.

"Without anyone noticing, slowly you lose results. And then, if you don't start the next season well, which is what happened to Ramos, his environment slowly lost confidence in him.

"I am very surprised it didn't work for Ramos and I feel sorry for him because I rate him as a coach and as a man.

"It takes time to get your ideas through. I understand Tottenham have to make decisions but you would want anyone to be given more than eight or nine games.

"Now they have gone a completely different way and done away with the director of football because they were suddenly convinced it doesn't work for them.

"Only time will tell whether Harry Redknapp will be a success."

Fabregas also took a pop at Spurs when he teased them about playing Arsenal's ladies.

He told lads' mag Loaded that Vic Akers' all-conquering women's side would give the White Hart Lane men a tough game.

Fab said: "They would do really well. I'm sure they would get a point!" (THE SUN)

Is Wenger right? Did Spurs sack Ramos too soon, and was the poor form due to lack of interest after the Carling Cup win? Should Ramos have been given longer, or should Martin Jol never have been sacked in the first place? Is Fabregas right? Could Arsenal ladies achieve a draw with the Spurs 1st XI?
