Hot off the press

Chelsea: Will Didier Drogba get three-match ban?

When Jamie Carragher lobbed a pound coin at Arsenal fans back in 2002, he was fined 40 grand by Liverpool, banned for three games by the FA and got a formal warning from the Old Bill.

So what fate awaits Drogba after his moment of monetary madness at the Bridge last night?

I’ve got a funny feeling he’s going to escape lightly. The FA are terrified of upsetting Chelsea and Drogs has apologised through gritted teeth to try and smooth things over. Sincere it wasn’t but someone’s obviously had a quite word in the hope of a reduced punishment.

Personally, I reckon it was Anelka what chucked the coin in the first place but conspiracy theories aside, watch this space to see how the FA manage to sidestep the issue.

And just imagine what the uproar would be if it had been a Burnley player who threw something at the Chelsea fans...
