The comments keep flying in about the performance of the Arsenal Team. Acclaimed as the side that usually plays the most entertaining football but at other times the side without a spine. Last week was a perfect example of the team with two very different faces. The Carling cup game against Wigan showed the style and technical skill of the squad at its best and yet the game against Aston Villa showed an Arsenal side without desire and purpose.


Almunia said, “Today’s game [ against Aston Villa ] was Arsenal’s worst for a long time.

“It is very disappointing because after the penalty I thought the team would be more excited and grow with desire to win the game. But the penalty did not change anything and that is embarrassing for us.”

When Wenger senses that the non performing team is out on the pitch why does he not make drastic substitutions to try and kick start the team into action? There are a number of Wonderkids who would cheerish the chance to come on and make a name for themselves.
