Hot off the press

 England call up for unknown Chelsea rookie whilst Everton star misses out

It isn't the first time that an England manager has made an unusual squad selection but this time it seems especially intriguing. The inclusion of Michael Mancienne, the Chelsea on loan defender who has never played a minute of Premier League football seems one of the most baffling and inexcusably stupid inclusions of a manager for quite some time.

Mancienne who has performed previously well for QPR and Wolves is still no where near ready for International competition and has taken the place away from other hopefuls including Evans and Jagielka who has been superb for Everton this season. Jagielka is a very versatile and experienced player who puts his foot in, is athletic and is the perfect cover when England are missing the likes of Rio and Wes Brown. But Capello will I'm sure be enjoying the press and attention this is getting, and furthermore its worth noting that just because someone is in a squad for a friendly, doesn't mean they will actually play at all. Moyes had this to say on the situation;

"Put it this way, he's playing as well if not better than he was last season, when he was included in the England squad.

"It's hard enough picking my own team without trying to tell someone else what to do but Jags has been playing as well as I have seen him.

"He has been our most consistent player this season and his pace, athleticism and strength have been impressive.

"Maybe if he keeps that up he will get in again." Chelsea defender Mancienne, 20, has not had a sniff of Premier League action."

He raises some fair points, but what do fans think about this decision? Is Capello just trying to get attention, is it a valid and worthwhile thought out decision or did he perhaps neglect to notice Jagielka at all?
