Hot off the press

Stars for the future, Arsenal's Carlos Vela

Named by The Sun as one of the top 20 young players to watch in 2008, Carlos Vela has certainly got a lot of hype surrounding him. Signing a five year deal at Arsenal in 2005, Vela was quickly loaned out to Spanish side Celta Vigo due to work permit restrictions. He then moved around Spain, to Salamanca, and finally Osasuna before returning to Arsenal in may 2008. Arsene Wenger confirmed that Carlos Vela would be involved in the coming season, and was granted the number 12 shirt. His recent goal scoring form for Arsenal following 10 competive goals in Spain has given him the attention of the media, and after making his competitive debut for Arsenal on 30 August 2008 against Newcastle, he soon made a name for himself when he scored a sublime hat-trick against Sheffield United in the Carling cup.

Vela truley represents Wenger's vision for the future, and one only has to look quickly at Arsenal's current squad list to see where the club are going. As a non-Arsenal fan, I couldn't recognize a fair few number of the squad. Emmanuel Frimpong, Jay Simpson, Mark Randall, Håvard Nordtveit, Fran Mérida, Henri Lansbury, Kieran Gibbs, Rui Fonte, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Francis Coquelin, Amaury Bischoff, Vito Mannone!

Who are these guy's? Will we ever see them play? Can Arsenal fans recognise which of these players are tipped for premiership greatness at Arsenal?

havard nordveit is rated very highly , he is a centre back. coquelin is a defensive midfielder in the diarra/makelele type mould. amaury bischoff can play central midfield or both wings, not alot is known about him. fran merida was plucked from barca youth team just like fabregas. he has an amazing left foot and is good at set pieces.
i fully expect frimpong , merida, nordveit and coquelin to make the first team and obviously bischoff. jay simpons would but we got way to many strikers
