Hot off the press

Aston Villa blow big chance against Fulham.

Martin O’Neill’s team have attracted the attention of the football world. At present they have broken into the Top Four and don’t look like they are ready to give it up. Even Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson was singing their praise and felt that Villa would replace Arsenal by taking the fourth spot at the end of the season. But after yesterdays performance against Fulham does this dream seem too far off in the distance.

Although it was a freezing, foggy afternoon in Birmingham Villa came out as if they had everything but the game on their minds. They seemed to be devoid of a game plan, failed to spark into gear and seemed to be counting the minutes until the final whistle.

After the game manager Martin O’Neill said, “It was eventually very disappointing. We came with high hopes and with confidence high from previous weeks. It was an opportunity for us and we didn’t grasp it.”

So Villa fans: What went wrong? Was the team too over confident? Were the tactics wrong? Are the players getting too fatigued? Or did the opposition just have one of those great days? Let’s have your comments please.
