Hot off the press

Manchester City fans accused of getting Manchester United star sent off.

The joke seems to be going on far too long. In a most bizarre incident in the 150th derby game in Manchester, Ronaldo was sent off for handling the ball in the Man City penalty area. It must be understood that at the time Ronaldo was in a goal-scoring position and not being challenged by any City defender.

Ronaldo claims had had heard Micah Richards cry out in pain, prompting him to attempt to catch the ball so that the Manchester City defender might receive treatment.

The winger said: "Wayne Rooney took the corner, I jumped and that was when I heard a shout from Richards and simultaneously the sound of a whistle. At that moment I was convinced that the referee had blown for a foul, I stopped trying to head the ball and score a goal, and I grabbed the ball so Richards could get help."

Other explanations have been given by Man U boss Fergie who said, “He [Ronaldo] thought he'd heard the referee's whistle.” This has been followed by other versions of events, with Fergie saying, “I've seen it again and he was trying to protect himself from the ball hitting his face. He may have got a little shove as well.”

City fans: What do you make of Ronaldo’s actions? Ronaldo's story is so unbelievable that perhaps it could actually be the truth. Have you any sympathy for Ronaldo, or does he think he is untouchable and can get away with doing what he wants?

Ronaldo shouldve received a straight red card for mocking the ref when he was booked firstly.Respect the ref? The FA will never get any respect when referees allow footballers to belittle them in such a fashion.United were very clever in rotating the responsibility for hacking SWP and harassing the referee. They reminded me of Don Revie's Leeds team that everybody used to hate.

At the end of the day Ronaldo handled the ball, there was no whistle and thats automatically a bookable offence. If us City fans did contribute to him getting sent off, then I feel truly proud, good job well done :). If anything, we should be talking about how united players constantly and cynically kicked wright-phillips after he passed them. If that was us on ronaldo, Fergie would be in tears and Motd would have done a 20minute feature length special called 'City's Snide Tactics'. Carricks hack at his ankles near the end wasn't even shown on Motd. F*****g joke!

When you are the European player of the year, you are allowed to blame everybody apart from yourself for your actions.
It's is clearly all the fault of all of us, but never his.
