Hot off the press

Do Chelsea Need Didier Drogba to Overcome Liverpool and Manchester United and Win the Premier League Crown?

Despite some high scoring wins, Chelsea do not seem like the Chelsea of the past few seasons this year. One of their most high profile absentees has been Didier Drogba. You are more likely to read about him sulking in the newspapers than helping his teammates with goals on the pitch.

Does Chelsea need him back though?

Sources inside the dressing room suggest some of the senior players have finally had enough with Drogba’s histrionics and want him out of the club. Unfortunately Chelsea’s former bosses have squandered a fortune on other strikers who have not quite made the grade. Nicholas Anelka has scored goals but doubts remain whether he can raise his game to the level that Drogba has in the past. Peter Kenyon has also said that the club will not be spending any money on transfers in January, so if they do decide to cash in on him, it may be that they struggle to afford a replacement.

But at 30 years of age, and with clear injury problems, will Drogba be reliable enough for a sustained title challenge?

Should the club look to cash in before his knees give out for good?
