Hot off the press

Sunderland look to put the lights back on at the Stadium of Light.

The sudden departure of Roe Keane as manager of Sunderland has left the club facing a big dilemma. Will the replacement manager be a short term fix, or will they wait until they find the right candidate to guide their destiny over the next few years? During Keane's tenure as manager he was responsible for buying 38 players and spending over £80m in the process. On paper Sunderland have a squad worthy of playing in the Premier league, but results currently place them in the relegation zone third from bottom.

Already there are a number of potential candidates that for one reason or another could be contenders for the job. Mentioned are the former West Ham coach Alan Curbishley, ex-Newcastle man Sam Allardyce, former Chelsea supremo Avram Grant and Graeme Souness, former manager of Rangers, Liverpool, Benfica, Galatasaray, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.

Big decisions have to be made. Are you a short-term fixer or do you sit in the camp with those that want to find someone who will be a long-term solution? If you had to choose from one of the 4 names listed who would get your vote?
