Hot off the press

Would Blackburn and Sunderland agree with Spurs Harry Redknapp?

Over the past few weeks we have seen the down fall of two rookie managers. Roy Keane launched his managerial career signing a three year deal at Sunderland. Keane came to the club and immediately made wholesale changes to the team spending nearly £100M. In December 2008 Sunderland were 18th in the Premier League, having lost five of their six previous games and Roy Keane stood down as Sunderland manager.

Paul Ince was appointed as manager of his first Premiership club on 22 June 2008. After winning just three games in seventeen, Ince was sacked on 16 December 2008 after just six months in charge.

Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Boss has broken his silence and has accused the Premier League of giving the young managers a raw deal. Redknapp last night called the dismissal of Paul Ince "totally unfair" The Spurs boss reckons Rovers showed a lack of bravery by sacking the ex-Macclesfield and MK Dons chief after just 21 games.

Sir Alex Ferguson had a slightly different angle and said, “Young managers come along and people say this one will be England manager or boss of this club, but two years later they're not there. It's not an easy environment to come into, I wouldn't forecast anything.”

Do you think that Harry Redknapp is talking rubbish and that a club needs to protect their interest even if it means ending the career of a young manager? Or do you think that when the club appointed the rookie manager they went in with their eyes open and should have done more to stand by their man even at the expense of facing relegation?
