Hot off the press

Manchester United Stars Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo Could be in Trouble with the FA

Manchester United returned from the Club World Cup as winners, but have come straight back in to a controversy as star players Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were lucky to get away with violent conduct in their match against Stoke City yesterday.

Wayne Rooney should have been shown a straight red for his elbow on Abdoulaye Faye. The two tussled for the ball in the corner and Rooney clearly looked over his shoulder and threw an elbow towards Faye.

Ronaldo’s offence against Andy Wilkinson was to kick out at him after a strong challenge. Wilkinson himself was sent off for a retaliatory challenge on Ronaldo in the 72nd minute.

Had one of Stoke’s less glamorous players elbowed a player as Rooney did, there is no doubt Alex Ferguson would have been out in the press complaining, moaning and kicking up a fuss. Ronaldo’s petulant kick would have evoked a similar response. Are Manchester United’s players given special treatment? It certainly seems to be the only reason that both clear fouls were missed by the dozy officials.

There is a few problems to be a good player or one of the best in the world and you play in england, you have no simpathy from the refs or your Eng football as. No matter how often you are kicked down, elbowed or bad tackled, they call you a diver or they say it´s bad for you to be that good. The only defence for poor player like Wilkinson is playing dirty and there is ofcourse not right to play dirty back but com on this twat should had got red 5 min before. Your refs in England are suddenly starting to make more end more mistakes and it will end with a big accident at som palyer.I thought when Arsenal Silva gat his bad tackle after fat slow defender the refs would pick up somthing to let that not happen again. No Fa and others are havi´n a tea party after games and looking on som clips to send in som bans. If this will continue like this the best league in the world will end up with the all fat slow players and boring seasons. Come on you refs when you are starting to look at one team more than another we call it CHEAT !!! I rote this article of Poll earlier and i´m shocked.GO

GRAHAM POLL: Refs are blind to the misbehaving stars of Man United.

The problem is not the players it is the refs , you draw the line and they
don´t cross.
Best reg and happy new year

thnks chesian - you saved my typing hands by saying that i wanted to - one more thijng - did anyone actually think wilkinsons 2nd yellow should have been a straight red - i thought it was an assault and could have easily been a injury for ronaldo (i thought it was a cop out by the ref)

The match was niggly with a number of incidents not least which was 2 elbows by Richard Cresswell in the face of Nemanja Vidic.. but of course its the United players who get picked on not the Stoke..have a look at the whole game and stop being so ABU!

Why are you bringing this up - Rooney was right in front of the linesman and he never flagged. Ronaldo's ankle was being trod on and the ref was beside it. Who says the FA will get them into bother? There is all this speculation when it is a United player. You see it in game all the time - people take a swing and miss and nothing is said. I suggest you hold your tongue and not make it worse than it was.
