Hot off the press

Cricket Chaos for England as they lose a manager and a captain in a day!

Kevin Pietersen, whose superb prowess in front of the wickets was a major factor behind his selection for the English captaincy, has today been 'removed' of his title after acting petulantly amongst the ECB. Not ones to entertain such bickering, the ECB decided that after the ever so public argument between Moores and Pietersen, the only proper course to take was to remove them both, before their personalities and egos affected the harmony amongst the other players. In the meantime, Andy Flower is taking charge from Moores, and how the captaincy position will be filled is anyone's guess, but Andrew Strauss has unsurprisingly emerged as the front runner in this decision, and the bookies have him at favourite to succeed Pietersen, for what they hope will be a more tranquil, focused and lengthy leadership campaign.

Pietersen began his captaincy promisingly enough with a win over South Africa at the Oval and then the 4-0 one day series success over the Proteas. Bt following that they famously lost the $20 million match against Stanford Superstars in Antigua before failing 5-0 in the seven match one day series in India, which was then abandoned due to the terror attacks on Mumbai.

If the ECB do indeed confirm Pietersen's resignation, then they will have to announce his replacement later today presumably with little time to recover the damage done before the next game, and with a little international captaincy experience under his belt, you can see how it might well be Strauss.

But what do England cricket fans think? Who should take the captaincy, and have the ECB made an error by sacking both influential members of the team?
