David Villa is probably one of the most coveted transfer targets of the summer and Europe’s big spenders are watching any developments very closely.

When it comes to spending money few can match Manchester City, Real Madrid or Chelsea – three clubs who do not run to budgets like other football clubs but are just the playthings of their owners, so they can afford to splash out when they feel like it.

David Villa has already signalled that he is to leave Valencia and the cash strapped club are not in a position to say no. Villa has also signalled he will not consider moving to Manchester City as they are not a big enough club for him to fulfil his ambition, leaving Chelsea and Real Madrid to battle it out for his signature.

Chelsea are though to have offered £38 million for his services with Madrid hoping to use striker Alvaro Negredo as bait to entice Valencia to favour their bid.

Previously the Spanish striker had suggested he did not want to leave Spain but Chelsea’s money has convinced many players to make the move before.

One thing is for sure David Villa will not be at Valencia next season.
